Initiating an ACH Payment: A Policy Guide for Supervisors, Controllers and Analysts

The purpose of this policy is to outline the necessary steps to initiate an ACH payment.

In this policy, the supervisor is responsible for pulling a report and ensuring that there is funding for all ACH payments. The report shows all scheduled payments for the day that were processed by the bank and is used for approval purposes. The controller is responsible for ensuring that the ACH payments have been processed appropriately by the bank. If the treasury payment authorization analyst identifies anomalies between the payment authorization report and the cash flow forecast, the analyst will determine the payment that requires blocking and notifies the supervisor to block the payment.
