Charge Description Master Policy

The purpose of this sample policy is to ensure that the charge description master for all departments within a company is complete and accurate in regard to charge-code maintenance. An additional purpose of this policy is to ensure that charge-code pricing for the billing of health services to third-party payers and patients is in compliance with federal and state regulatory requirements.

In this sample, the company’s control policy pertaining to the maintenance and pricing of the charge description master (CDM) is incorporated. This policy is for updating new charge codes in the CDM, modifying existing charge codes in the CDM, and updating the charge codes and prices in the CDM according to regulatory updates.
